Who Are We?
We are a family of four: Ryan, Elisabeth, Samuel, and James. Ryan was born and raised in Texas. Elisabeth was raised in southern California. Ryan and Elisabeth met in 2002 in Bible college and were married in January 2004. We have been on staff at Liberty Baptist Church, Newport Beach, California since August 2005. God added Samuel to our family in October 2008, and James in April 2009. In June 2008 Ryan surrendered to God's call to go to the mission field. After a year of prayer and getting counsel from our pastor, we decided to apply with a mission board in the summer of 2009. We have currently turned in all of our paperwork and are awaiting approval to attend candidate school in December 2009.
What Are We?
We are missionaries. We believe that missions is the heartbeat of God and that He desires all people to have the opportunity to hear the Gospel and respond. Our goal in the United Kingdom will be to lead people to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, disciple them in their new found faith, and plant local New Testament churches. We believe that the primary goal of missionaries is to propogate the Gospel for the planting of churches. It is our desire to see multiple churches started in the United Kingdom to the glory of God.
Why Are We Going?
Where Are We Going?
We are currently on deputation and hope to be on the field within two years (early 2012). God has laid on our heart a desire to start a church in London, England. London is a diverse and vibrant city of almost 15 million people, with many different ethnic groups. It is a great place to reach many different people groups with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We believe that the United Kingdom, and specifically London, is a strategic place for the spreading of the Gospel. It is the gateway to Europe, the capital of Great Britian, and maintains relations with the countries that were formerly part of the British Empire. We believe that London is a great place to plant the seed of the Gospel and see it spread throughout the world.
We believe the United Kingdom, and specifially London, provide unique opportunities to strategically spread the Gospel. London is the capital of the United Kingdom and thus provides a great starting point for the spread of the Gospel to the rest of the nation. We believe this is a method of church planting Paul employed in the New Testament, going to the great cities first. Second, the United Kingdom is the gateway to Europe. With the busiest international airport in the world (Heathrow) and a rail connection to the mainland (the Chunnel), it has vital links to Europe and the rest of the world. Third, London is also a financial and cultural center of the world. London is the number one global financial center in the world. Furthermore, 31% of the population is foreign born and 40% are from an ethnic minority group. Over 300 different languages are spoken in London and 5o ethnic groups have a population of 10,000 or more. Lastly, London maintains ties to the nations that were part of the old British Empire. At the turn of the 20th century, the British Empire held 25% of the world's population and 25% of the world's land mass. The Empire fell apart following World War II, but 53 nations today belong to the Commonwealth of Nations (formerly called the British Commonwealth).
As you can see, the United Kingdom has potential to be a strategic location for God to do a great work. We look forward to serving the Lord there. We would love the opportunity to share our ministry with you. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.
